Done as part of my Level 3 BA (Hons) Degree in Image & Communication project.
This is one of the outcomes generated to support my thesis on images used to generate an idealised standard, thus perpetuating social stigmas and stereotypes, and how images are also used adversely to address the said issues and create awareness to the public. This outcome answers to the latter. Drawing inspiration from protest cards, 25 participants came forward to share their discontent regarding the misconceptions and discriminations they have faced and let their voices be heard.
This can be seen in my Portfolio:

“C” Is For Cookie!
(c) Fariza Strömblad for Threadless
I participated in a t-shirt design challenge which world renowned apparel company Threadless organised. Teaming up with children’s TV programme Sesame Street, the theme for the challenge was none other than the Sesame Street characters themselves! Being a fan of the show myself while growing up, I decided to choose my favourite character Cookie Monster as an inspiration for the design. I figured that to draw the character itself would be boring and unoriginal, I decided to go for a slightly abstract approach. I stuck with Cookie Monster’s crazy eyes as they are easily distinguishable and typography to build up the rest of its face. I finished it off with the “C” looking like a piece of cookie that has been bitten off, just to add a little punch to it.
It was my first time ever submitting to Threadless. Though I have been designing tees and submitting my designs to other apparel companies, this is by far, the biggest platform I’ve ever explored. And guess what! MY DESIGN WAS CHOSEN!!!!!!
The design is now up for sale on Threadless official online store: HERE!

I.
Of what faith shall I believe?
And of what truth shall I believe?
For faith benighted us all
Faith,
Yet another fairytale
For which we shall rise in betrayal
Of what faith shall I believe?
The father?
The son?
The pretentious spirit?
II.
Of what faith
And truth
Shall lead my way
And forgive
All my sins?
The power
Has blinded
The followers
III.
Of what faith shall I believe?
And of what truth shall I believe?
Of what path shall I take?
To cleanse my filthy soul
And my jar of vices
Of what faith shall I believe?
The father?
The son?
And the secular spirit?
IV.
Of what faith shall end my suffering?
The tongue
That spite
The misconstrued
The tongue
That scorned
The Almighty
Of what faith shall cleanse my filthy soul
And end my suffering?
V.
And yet you
Preached to me
The coveted lies
And hid the truth
From I
And damned me
The blasphemous one
Of what faith
Shall lead my way
And rekindle
The lost hope
The blind
Will be
Forever
Blind
